HE HAS THE POWER OF LIFE AND DEATH!

HE HAS THE POWER OF LIFE AND DEATH!

Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the Lord when he says, ‘The Lord will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’ —Isaiah 36:15

“Do not let Hezekiah mislead you when he says, ‘The Lord will deliver us.’ Have the gods of any nations ever delivered their lands from the hand of the king of Assyria? —Isaiah 36:18

Isaiah said to them, “Tell your master, ‘This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid of what you have heard—those words with which the underlings of the king of Assyria have blasphemed me. Listen! When he hears a certain report, I will make him want to return to his own country, and there I will have him cut down with the sword.’” —Isaiah 37:6-7

Now, Lord our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, Lord, are the only God.” —Isaiah 37:20

Then the angel of the Lord went out and put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies! —Isaiah 37:36

The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.”  Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly.  Then the word of the Lord came to Isaiah: “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life. —Isaiah 38:1-5

Our Lord God Almighty has the power over circumstances and over life itself.  The prideful and arrogant Assyrians believed they could defeat God’s people as they had done in so many other countries.  The false gods, idols, of those countries could not save them.  It is a different story when one challenges our Lord.  In this case He “put to death a hundred and eighty-five thousand in the Assyrian camp. When the people got up the next morning—there were all the dead bodies!”  To come against, to speak against, to act against our Lord is to put one’s life in eternal danger.

On the other hand, when Hezekiah heard he would die, he prayed and our Lord was gracious to Him and added another 15 years to his life.  Now, which side would you rather be on? — Those who oppose our Lord or those who trust in our Lord?  For me, I will trust my Lord with my eternal destiny and seek to do His will for His glory.  Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus because I have no power of authority of my own.  May I rest in Yours.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XFRjr_x-yxU&list=RDXFRjr_x-yxU&start_radio=1
