For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the greatness of his government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of might, the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord—and he will delight in the fear of the Lord. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked. Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist. —Isaiah 11:2-5
They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious. —Isaiah 11:9-10
The birth announcement of Jesus proclaimed about 700 years before it occurred. Of Him it is said—
- A child is born
- A son is given

- His peace will have no end
- He will reign on David’s throne
- He will reign over David’s kingdom
- He will establish David’s kingdom
- He will uphold the kingdom with justice
- He will uphold the kingdom with righteousness
- He will do this forever
- He will do this with zeal
- He will come from the stump of Jesse
- He will be a Branch that will bear fruit
- He will have the Spirit of the Lord will rest on Him
- He will have the Spirit of wisdom
- He will have the Spirit of understanding
- He will have the Spirit of counsel
- He will have the Spirit of knowledge
- He will have the fear of the Lord

- He will have faithfulness as a sash around His waist
- He will not see harm on His holy mountain
- He will not see destruction on His holy mountain
- His knowledge will fill the earth as the waters cover the sea
- He will be a banner for the peoples
- He will have the nations rally to Him
- He will have a glorious resting place
Yes, it is true! It has happened and will happen! “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea” as stated by Isaiah here and also about 100 years later in Habakkuk 2:14. As surely as Jesus was born, so too it can be counted on fully that our Lord God Almighty will accomplish all He said He would. This is proven as we once again remembered the death and resurrection of Jesus this past weekend in 2025. Yes, Dear Father, we can count on You fully to accomplish all You have said. Thank You for all You have accomplished through Jesus.
