BE COMMITTED TO HIS WORK, GLORIFYING HIM!
BE COMMITTED TO HIS WORK, GLORIFYING HIM!
I have done according to all that you have commanded me. —Deuteronomy 26:14
I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do. —John 17:4
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. —Ephesians 2:10
He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing good deeds. —Titus 2:14
His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ —Matthew 25:23
Will we hear our Lord say that to us? Will He say to you and me— ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’ Are you and I seeking to be “good and faithful” servants? May it be so.
We should strive to do “all that (He has) commanded us.” He has given us work to do and Jesus said, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you” (John 15:16) and “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples” (John 15:8). Are we about the work that He gave us to do and are we bearing fruit which brings glory to our Father? Oh, that it would be so!
Wow, we can bring glory to our Father by lovingly obeying and doing what He desires. Jesus did this! — “I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do” (John 17:4). Of course, Jesus was totally committed to doing His Father’s will, but are we also committed to doing His will? Where is our focus? Is it truly on those things our Father is passionate about or are we focused on the worldly passions of this temporary existence?
What is the “work” that God has for you to finish? Are you seeking to do so or are you off-focus? Oh, that you and I, fellow follower of Jesus, would focus on His desires and “do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Oh yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Precious Son Jesus. Yes, may it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eQd3K2Fxp4
