OUR GLORIOUS SAVIOR AND LORD GOD ALMIGHTY

OUR GLORIOUS SAVIOR AND LORD GOD ALMIGHTY

He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs.  For to which of the angels did God ever say, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”? Or again, “I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son”? And again, when he brings the firstborn into the world, he says, “Let all God’s angels worship him. —Hebrews 1:3-6

But of the Son he says, “Your throne, O God, is forever and ever, the scepter of uprightness is the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions.” And, “You, Lord, laid the foundation of the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of your hands; 11 they will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment, like a robe you will roll them up, like a garment they will be changed. But you are the same, and your years will have no end.” —Hebrews 1:8-12

Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. —Hebrews 2:14-15

Jesus is “the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature.”  Our Father calls Him His Son, His Firstborn (Colossians 1:15, 18), God, Creator and Him whose “years will have no end.”

Jesus made “purification for sins” at the cross (I John 2:1-2) and then ascended (Acts 1:2-3, 9), sitting “down at the right hand of the Majesty on high” (Acts 7:55-56).  “All God’s angels worship Him” and we are told by an angel and “fellow servant” not to worship him, but to “worship God!” (Revelation 22:8-90).  Jesus’ reigns “forever and ever.”

How astoundingly amazing is Jesus seen by “he himself likewise partook of the same things.”  He took on flesh and blood and experienced what we experience in a body.  “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. (Hebrews 4:15).  Not only that but through His “death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery.

Now here is another amazing truth— we need not fear death, not be enslaved by that fear of death!  That is Satan’s desire!  We are living in an age where people are fearing covid.  For those who do not know Jesus, rightly so because if they die they are headed for hell.  They should fear dying!  But for us who know Jesus we need not fear covid, a heart attack, cancer, a car “accident,” or anything else that can cause our death.  We do not need to be a prisoner to that fear.  Yes, we live wisely and each of us needs to make decisions before God about that.  But the power of death has been destroyed by our Savior.  We are delivered from that fear of death and need not be in Satan’s slavery to it, understanding we have been delivered from it!  Paul fully understood this and could say, “I’m torn between two desires: I long to go and be with Christ, which would be far better for me” (Philippians 1:23) and “We are confident, then, and would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord” (II Corinthians 5:8).  Paul would have rather been with Jesus— away from the body— which means he would rather die, leave his earthly body and be with Jesus.  Do we think like that?  Do we absolutely believe that? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MbcYyOsF50

Thank You Dear Father for my Savior, King and Lord— our Destroyer of death!  Oh to be with Him in glory, yes that is my desire.  Until then, may I be and do what You desire in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son, my beloved Jesus.
