LOOK AT YOURSELF INSTEAD OF BLAMING GOD!
The Lord said to Job: “Will the one who contends with the Almighty correct him? Let him who accuses God answer him!” Then Job answered the Lord: “I am unworthy—how can I reply to you? I put my hand over my mouth. I spoke once, but I have no answer— twice, but I will say no more.” —Job 40:1-5
Then Job replied to the Lord: “I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted. You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know. “You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.’ My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.” —Job 42:1-6
Are you arguing with God about your circumstances? Would you attempt to correct Him? Job came to the point, even in his dire circumstances, that he was unworthy before God and that he should keep his mouth closed. Job also acknowledged that the Lord God Almighty—
- Can do all things
- Had purposes that would not be thwarted
- Had plans Job did not understand
- Allows us to see who we really are compared to Him
- Brings us to the point of despising ourselves
- Brings us to the point of repentance
Instead of arguing with God and seeking to correct Him, as if we know what’s best, maybe we should take a hard look at ourselves! May we do so! Yes, Dear Father, may we not seek to tell You what is best for our lives, but trust You for what is best. May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.
