HEART WORDS OR JUST WORDS

HEART WORDS OR JUST WORDS

And the Lord said: “Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men, therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.” Ah, you who hide deep from the LORD your counsel, whose deeds are in the dark, and who say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?” You turn things upside down! Shall the potter be regarded as the clay, that the thing made should say of its maker, “He did not make me”; or the thing formed say of him who formed it, “He has no understanding”? —Isaiah 29:13-16

Is my life one of just saying words without a real heart change? Do I have a proper fear of the Lord or just believe what is being taught by man? Am I discerning? Is what I am in the light the same as what I am in shadows? Do I only ponder if man sees me or knows me? Is what I believe and what I do upside down? Am I considering who made me? Do I go by my own understanding or consider His? Am I really honoring my Lord with my life or just with my mouth?

It is easy to just say words? “I will pray for you.” But did I?   How many politicians say “Our prayers are with you?” But are those just words? People say they are “trusting the Lord.” But are they really? It is easy to say words, but are our hearts truly behind those words? We are to love God and people with all our heart (Matthew 22:37-40), but do we? Our culture is surely far from that! But, how about we in the Church, the Body of Christ— are we just saying words?

We are told that “the world will know we are his disciples if we love one another. Are we?   We are told to be witnesses. Are we? We are told to make disciple. Are we?   We are told to help those in need.   Are we? If these things are not taking place in the Church, then are we not just honoring our Lord with our mouth and not with our heart and not with our actions?

What is our Lord telling you to be and do? Then obey Him. “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” Do you love Him?

Dear Father may I listen to Your desires for me and then do them. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus my Lord.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHOoD8ddObI
