PRAY!
One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.” —Luke 11:1 The disciples of Jesus wanted Him to teach them how to pray. The parallel passages differ, but they also have commonalities. Remember, this prayer is in response to His disciples wanting to be taught to pray. He said to them, “When you pray, say: “Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.” —Luke…

REJECTING THE MESSAGE OF JESUS’ FOLLOWERS IS REJECTING JESUS AND HIS FATHER
For the Lord your God detests anyone who does these things, anyone who deals dishonestly. —Deuteronomy 25:16 “Whoever listens to you listens to me; whoever rejects you rejects me; but whoever rejects me rejects him who sent me.” —Luke 10:16 However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” —Luke 10:20 It is God who judges: He brings one down, he exalts another. —Psalm 75:7 Have you listened to Jesus, the One whom our Father sent? It is written— “And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world” (I John…

LOOK FOR THOSE WELCOMING JESUS
As the time approached for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. —Luke 9:51-53 But when you enter a town and are not welcomed, go into its streets and say, ‘Even the dust of your town we wipe from our feet as a warning to you. Yet be sure of this: The kingdom of God has come near.’ I tell you, it will be more bearable on that day for Sodom than for that…

HAVE A PROPER PERSPECTIVE!
When I tried to understand all this, it troubled me deeply till I entered the sanctuary of God; then I understood their final destiny. Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin. How suddenly are they destroyed, completely swept away by terrors! They are like a dream when one awakes; when you arise, Lord, you will despise them as fantasies. When my heart was grieved and my spirit embittered, I was senseless and ignorant; I was a brute beast before you. Yet I am always with you; you hold me by my right hand. You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take…

CORRUPTION
Do not pervert justice or show partiality. Do not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the innocent. —Deuteronomy 16:19 How often do we see this in today’s world or, really, any time in history. People take bribes to pervert justice, show partiality, have their eyes blinded and twist the words of the innocent. In our U.S government bribes are called “pork” or “earmarks.” These are amendments that someone wants to add to a bill to get something they want and they won’t vote for a bill unless it is added to that bill. This is bribery and yet…

SAVED TO LOVINGLY SERVE
It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him. —Deuteronomy 13:4 Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his treasured possession. —Deuteronomy 14:2 Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come. —Psalm 71:18 Wow… think of this! “Out of all the peoples on the face of the earth, the Lord has chosen you to be his treasured possession.” What…

JESUS FREES FROM SATAN’S BONDAGE
For Jesus had commanded the impure spirit to come out of the man. Many times it had seized him, and though he was chained hand and foot and kept under guard, he had broken his chains and had been driven by the demon into solitary places. —Luke 8:29 The man from whom the demons had gone out begged to go with him, but Jesus sent him away, saying, “Return home and tell how much God has done for you.” So the man went away and told all over town how much Jesus had done for him. —Luke 8:38-39 This demon possessed man, like so many today, needed to come to…
