PLANS ACCORDING TO HIS WILL
The plans of the heart belong to man, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. —Proverbs 16:1
Commit your work to the LORD, and your plans will be established. —Proverbs 16:3
The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps. —Proverbs 16:9
Without counsel plans fail, but with many advisers they succeed. —Proverbs 15:22
Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. —Psalm 119:133
Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord is willing, we will live and do this or that. —James 4:15
We are to make plans as we seek our Lord’s direction, but ultimately it is He who guides our steps. When plans are made we are to “commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” His Word tells us what we should be planning for and if we do that then He says He will establish those plans. It is helpful to get the counsel of others. They could give us direction and redirection that we might not see is needed. Also, we are to be asking that our Lord directs our “footsteps according to (His) word” and that no sin would “rule over (us).” We are to depend on Him knowing that we can do nothing on our own. Ultimately we are to be seeking His will. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcE1di1Wtl0
All through His Word He promises to guide us— “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you” (Psalm 32:8). “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6). “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come” (John 16:13). Let us wait on Him for direction as we plan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PsQmsEE_2-s

I can do nothing on my own. Lord, I put up the sails, but Your Spirit has to blow. Otherwise I am “dead in the water.” Oh, blow Spirit, blow…
