THE COMING WRATH OF THE LAMB
For in those days there will be such tribulation as has not been from the beginning of the creation that God created until now, and never will be. And if the Lord had not cut short the days, no human being would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, whom he chose, he shortened the days. —Mark 13:19-20
But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers in the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And then he will send out the angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of heaven. —Mark 13:24-27
When he opened the sixth seal, I looked, and behold, there was a great earthquake, and the sun became black as sackcloth, the full moon became like blood, and the stars of the sky fell to the earth as the fig tree sheds its winter fruit when shaken by a gale. The sky vanished like a scroll that is being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth and the great ones and the generals and the rich and the powerful, and everyone, slave and free, hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, calling to the mountains and rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb, for the great day of their wrath has come, and who can stand?” —Revelation 6:12-17
There is coming a time of tribulation (great tribulation—Matthew 24:21; Revelation 7:14) that this earth has never seen nor will ever see again. This is going to happen just before our Lord returns. It is going to be so bad that no person would survive on the earth if it wasn’t for our Lord cutting short the duration of that tribulation.
Things will happen that have never happened before. There will be massive disturbances in the universe— “the powers in the heavens will be shaken.” Then… Jesus will come and what we proclaim through the Lord’s Table will be fulfilled— “For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death UNTIL HE COMES” (I Corinthians 11:26).
And just like in Noah’s day the people didn’t believe the judgment that was about to come upon them until the door of the ark was shut and the rain began. There must have been terrible fear for those who realized judgment was upon them. So too when people see Jesus coming they will know that judgment has come and that none will stand before the “wrath of the Lamb.” There will be great fear!
Brothers and sisters let us rejoice that “therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” and let us warn the lost to “flee the coming wrath” (Luke 3:7) and to call on the Lord to be saved (Romans 10:13). Yes Dear Father please work in and through me to warn the lost to flee from the wrath to come and to flee to Jesus for refuge.
