GOD MAKES DEAD MEN LIVE!
GOD MAKES DEAD MEN LIVE!
And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. —Colossians 2:13-14
As for you, you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you used to walk when you conformed to the ways of this world and of the ruler of the power of the air, the spirit who is now at work in the sons of disobedience. At one time we all lived among them, fulfilling the cravings of our flesh and indulging its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature children of wrath. But because of His great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ, even when we were dead in our trespasses. It is by grace you have been saved! And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might display the surpassing riches of His grace, demonstrated by His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life. —Ephesians 2:1-10
Dead men cannot make themselves alive. It is impossible. Brother and sister we were dead in our trespasses and sin. We were conformed to the ways of this world. We were like others who needed to “come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, who has taken them captive to his will” (II Timothey2:26). We lived after the flesh. That is the only way we could live at the time. We had no power to do otherwise. We were under the wrath of God and headed for Hell.
God greatly loved us and extended His rich mercy toward us. He “made us alive with Christ, even when we were dead in our trespasses” and has “forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.” Brothers and sisters “it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance as our way of life.”
This life we have in Jesus is a gift. He took away our sin debt forever! What a gift! We who were dead in sin are now alive in Christ and will live with Him forever! Out of gratitude may we serve Him in the work He has prepared for us to do. Yes, let us do so out of loving gratitude. Dear Father may this be do in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwgWbIOt0ko
