FULFILL COMMITMENTS
FULFILL COMMITMENTS
I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all His people. —Psalm 116:14, 18
As a leader in a local church for 25 years and a follower of Jesus for 40 years I have seen many who call on the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ not fulfill their commitments they have made to the Lord and to His people. Is it only in the church that people walk away and drop their commitments or do they do this at their work as well? Do people often just tell their leader at work, “I am leaving for another job” and leave immediately with unfinished work left now for someone else to pick up and finish?
I know our local part of the body of Christ meets regularly for ministry prayer for guidance in ministry. Once each year we commit finances, time and other resources to accomplish what the Lord would have us do for the year. People agree with the focus our Lord would have for us… and then some walk away during the year leaving the rest of that local body to fulfill their portion of a commitment they are no longer fulfilling. How sad this is? Commitment is lacking in so many churches as a fellow pastor recently shared with me which came up at a seminar he attended. Yes, how sad is that?
Dear Father regardless of how things go in my life may I fulfill the commitments I have made to You and to Your people. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. So be it!
