WE WON’T BE SHAKEN!
WE WON’T BE SHAKEN!
At that time his voice shook the earth, but now he has promised, “Once more I will shake not only the earth but also the heavens.” The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our “God is a consuming fire.” —Hebrews 12:26-29
We will not be shaken because we believe in God who cannot be shaken and “we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken.” We are safe from His coming judgment. He is going to “shake” the created things so that which “cannot be shaken may remain.” Yes, judgment to the created things is coming— “I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place” (Revelation 6:12-14).
“You have not come to a mountain that can be touched and that is burning with fire; to darkness, gloom and storm; to a trumpet blast or to such a voice speaking words that those who heard it begged that no further word be spoken to them, because they could not bear what was commanded: “If even an animal touches the mountain, it must be stoned to death.” The sight was so terrifying that Moses said, “I am trembling with fear.” But you have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly, to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven. You have come to God, the Judge of all, to the spirits of the righteous made perfect, to Jesus the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood that speaks a better word than the blood of Abel. See to it that you do not refuse him who speaks” (Hebrews 12:18-25).
This terrifying experience Moses had at Mount Sinai caused him to tremble “with fear.” The experience was a shadow of the judgment to come. “Now Mount Sinai was all in smoke because the LORD descended upon it in fire; and its smoke ascended like the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mountain quaked violently” (Exodus 19:18). The next time not just Mount Sinai will be shaken, but all of creation will! John, guided by the Holy Spirit, tells us about the next time—- “I watched as he opened the sixth seal. There was a great earthquake. The sun turned black like sackcloth made of goat hair, the whole moon turned blood red, and the stars in the sky fell to earth, as figs drop from a fig tree when shaken by a strong wind. The heavens receded like a scroll being rolled up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?” (Revelation 6:12-17).
Brothers & sisters, we will not be shaken because we have trusted in the One who will be doing the shaking. We are safe in Him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KHPIZOdrjI
Dear Father, thank You that I am safe in Jesus from the coming judgment. Oh, please help me to bring this message to others that they too may know Jesus and be safe from the coming judgment. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son.
