GOD IS CREATOR

By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible. —Hebrews 11:3

What do we know by faith (Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see (Hebrews 11:1)? We are told that “faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ” (Romans 10:17) and that “without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him” (Hebrews 11:6). By faith we know that God commanded creation into existence from nothing that is visible. We would not know this without God’s Word. We might understand that God is powerful and that He exists, but the details we would not know unless He revealed them to us through His Word.

By faith we do have confidence and assurance that He is the Creator because of the detail He has revealed to us in His Word. “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1). “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made” (John 1:1-3). “For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together” (Colossians 1:16-17). “In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe” (Hebrews 1:1-2). We would not be able to know the details of these things without His revealed Word.

Would you know the order of creation without His Word? Would you know the origin of all that has been created: light, water, land, plants, sun, moon or stars, fish and fowl, land animals or man? No, you would not know these details without God’s Word revealed. Would you know about Adam and Eve or how sin entered the world and the effects sin has on man and all of creation? These things and so, so much more we would not have a clue about unless God gave us His written Word. He has given us His record, His blueprint for life. He has not left us in the dark! Dear Father, all of creation declares Your glory. As I look around and see the work of Your hands I am truly astounded. As I look on the snow You brought today I again ponder Your absolute purity and to think You imputed this righteousness to me, You credited Your righteous to my account upon trusting Jesus—- amazing grace! Now may I show forth Your glory by living according to the plan and desires You have for me. May it be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
