JOYFULLY WORSHIP REGARDLESS OF CIRCUMSTANCES

You suffered along with those in prison and joyfully accepted the confiscation of your property, because you knew that you yourselves had better and lasting possessions. —Hebrews 10:34

How firmly of a grasp do we have on the “stuff” the Lord has given us to steward? Do we have a proper perspective on the material belongings that surround us? Are we using them for God’s glory or our own comfort alone? What if it all were taken away? Could we have the proper perspective and say with Job, ““Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised” (Job 1:21) and truly mean it? Would we have this attitude— “In all this, Job did not sin by charging God with wrongdoing” (Job 1:22) and worship God (Job 1:20)? Would our attitude be as in the verse above and joyfully accept “the confiscation of your property” because we know that we have “better and lasting passions?” These people “joyfully accepted” the confiscation of their property because they had a proper perspective and priority on it. Do we?

Dear Father, may I worship You with all that I am and with all that I have which is Yours anyway. May it be so in the authority of my Lord Jesus and by the power of Your Holy Spirit.
