Are they Hebrews? So am I. Are they Israelites? So am I. Are they Abraham’s descendants? So am I. Are they servants of Christ? (I am out of my mind to talk like this.) I am more. I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers. I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked. Besides everything else, I face daily the pressure of my concern for all the churches. Who is weak, and I do not feel weak? Who is led into sin, and I do not inwardly burn? If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. — II Corinthians 11:22-30

Our Lord asked, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” Isaiah responded, “Here am I. Send me!” Isaiah was standing firm in his faith in our Lord God Almighty. Are you? “If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.” Are you standing firm in your faith when Jesus said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20). Who did Jesus say this to? In verses 16-17 we are told “Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted.” I find it interesting that these eleven followers of Jesus are called disciples in this passage and not Apostles, which they were. You see, Jesus’ disciples are told to make disciples. And if we are disciples we are to continue with what He said and as disciples we are to make disciples, baptizing them in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and we are to teach them to obey everything Jesus has taught us. Jesus said He would be with us until the end of the age in this disciple-making process. Isaiah said, “Here am I. Send me!” He was told to go speak to the people. We are told to make disciples. Isaiah faithfully obeyed. Are we obeying?
Paul also obeyed, even though he went through so much difficulty. What difficulty have you and I gone through because of sharing the gospel and making disciples? How did Paul remain faithful? It was because he believed that “Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me” and God is our help as well and He will sustain us. Let us be faithful to His call! Yes, Dear Father, this is my desire and may it be so by Your Holy Spirit’s power and in the authority that Your Son Jesus has given me.
