I AM HIS POSSESSION— SAFE AND SECURED!
Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. —II Corinthians 1:21-22
`Wow… brothers and sisters, fellow followers/disciples of Jesus, listen to this— “it is God who” —
- Has made us stand firm in Christ
- Has anointed us
- Has set His seal of ownership on us
- Has put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit
- Has guaranteed what is to come
These truths are echoed in Ephesians 1:13-14
“And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.”
Again,
- We were included in Christ when we heard the truth
- The truth is the gospel of your salvation
- He marked us with a seal
- This seal is the promised Holy Spirit
- The Holy Spirit is a guarantee of our inheritance
So, dear brothers and sisters, fellow followers/disciples of Jesus, we are safe and secure in Him because He has done it. We did not do it. He did it and He gave us His Holy Spirit as a “guarantee of our inheritance” — a guarantee! And so, Dear Father, I am grateful that I don’t have to wonder where I stand because you say— “I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand” (I Corinthians 15:1). So, I thank You and I am full of gratitude for all You have done for me in Jesus and the sealing of Your Holy Spirit upon my life.
