EXAMPLES OF JUDGMENT TO COME

EXAMPLES OF THE JUDGMENT TO COME

Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land. —Genesis 19:24-25

In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire. —Jude 1:7

He condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly. —II Peter 2:6

There are those who better take heed to the historical outcome of Sodom, Gomorrah and the surrounding towns.  The “Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land.”  This event actually happened and that judgment points to the judgment to come.  People need to take heed.

That judgment on those towns did “serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire.”  Our Lord “condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly.”  Our Lord does judge the ungodly— those who do not want to follow God, but would rather follow their own ungodly ways.

            The final judgment is this—

“Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.” —Revelation 20:11-15

Is your name written in the book of life?  Only those who have called on Jesus are written in it.  Rejoice if you have called on Jesus and are following Him.  But if you haven’t called on Jesus yet, heed the warning of the examples above.  Jesus came to save us from our sin and judgment.  If you have not called on Him yet— won’t you call on Him now?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZD6khv6pGkw&t=52s Yes, Dear Father, if there are any reading this, may they call on Jesus now.  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqWYSyDZYIg
