AMAZING GRACE TO TAKE ON A BODY TO TAKE OUR PLACE!

The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your fellow Israelites. You must listen to him. For this is what you asked of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly when you said, “Let us not hear the voice of the Lord our God nor see this great fire anymore, or we will die.” —Deuteronomy 18:15-16

Now this was John’s testimony when the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was. He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, “I am not the Messiah.”  They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?”  He said, “I am not.”  “Are you the Prophet?”  He answered, “No.”  Finally they said, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”  John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, “I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.’”  Now the Pharisees who had been sent questioned him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”  “I baptize with water,” John replied, “but among you stands one you do not know. He is the one who comes after me, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.” —John 1:19-27

Truly, John was not “that Prophet” that Moses spoke about, but Jesus was that “Prophet.”  The people did not want God to speak to them in Moses’ day lest they die.  So the Lord God Almighty came as a man, the God-Man to speak to people.  This is truly astounding.  When Jesus was baptized by John, His Father said, “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased” (Mark 1:11).  And on the Mount of Transfigurations He said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!” (Matthew 17:5).

Yes, “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16).  And “Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him” (John 3:14-15).

Did you hear?  Do you hear?  Those who hear and look to that Prophet, God’s Son, Jesus and believe in Him have eternal life.  So amazing… Thank You Father for all the amazing things You have done for me through Jesus.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgsbaBIaoVc
