ACCEPTING OR REJECTING THE GOSPEL SEALS ONE’S ETERNAL DESTINY!

ACCEPTING OR REJECTING THE GOSPEL SEALS ONE’S ETERNAL DESTINY!

The coming of the lawless one is by the activity of Satan with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are perishing, because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. —II Thessalonians 2:9-10

To this he called you through our gospel, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. —II Thessalonians 2:14

God has called us who follow Jesus to share the gospel, the good news with others (Acts 1:8) — the good news “that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time…” (I Corinthians 15:3-6).  This is the gospel we are to proclaim so that “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Romans 10:13).

Jesus told us that nobody can come to Him unless the Father draws them to Him (John 6:44).  So, on one hand, our Father draws people to Jesus, but He uses us in the process.  Paul said that God calls people through the gospel that we are to proclaim.  Some of the Thessalonians heard the gospel and responded to follow Jesus.  Others did not.  There are those who will “refused to love the truth and so be saved.”  That is such a sad reality…

Brothers and sisters, fellow followers of Jesus, we just celebrated Thanksgiving (though thanksgiving is year-round for those following Jesus), let us be thankful and thank God for drawing us to Jesus.  Let us also be thankful for those who were faithful in sharing the gospel with us— whether in written form or audibly.  God worked through them to call us to Jesus!  And now, let us be faithful and call others by His gospel as well.  We only know those God is drawing by the acceptance or rejection of the gospel.  Dear Father, may I be faithful in calling others to Jesus through proclamation of the gospel.  May this be done by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcmqSfr1ENY&list=RDPcmqSfr1ENY&start_radio=1
