SIN IS NOT TO CONTROL THE FOLLOWER OF JESUS!

SIN IS NOT TO CONTROL THE FOLLOWER OF JESUS!

Keep back your servant also from presumptuous sins; let them not have dominion over me! Then I shall be blameless, and innocent of great transgression. —Psalm 19:13

Direct my footsteps according to your word; let no sin rule over me. —Psalm 119:133

For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace. —Romans 6:14

Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil so that I take part in wicked deeds along with those who are evildoers; do not let me eat their delicacies. —Psalm 141:4

Here is a prayer we should pray regularly— “Oh Lord, please keep me from willful sins.  Please do not let them have dominion over me.  Oh, that I would direct my footsteps according to your Word and that no sin would rule over me.  You are my Master and sin is not to be my master because of the grace You have extended to me.  Please let my heart not be drawn to what is evil, nor take part in wicked deeds.  I ask in the authority of Jesus and seek to walk by the power of Your Holy Spirit.  May it be so!”

As followers of Jesus, we want to exhibit the Holy Spirit’s fruit of self-control (Galatians 5:23).  There is this internal conflict going on within us— “For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want” (Galatians 5:17).  We are called not to grieve the Holy Spirit by our sin (Ephesians 4:30) and we are not to quench the Spirit (I Thessalonians 5:19).  Instead, we are to “walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16).  It comes down to allowing God’s Holy Spirit to direct us moment by moment as we live life and not give in to the desires and temptations of the flesh.  We must always be aware…  Yes, Dear Father, and please direct my footsteps, my life, according to Your Word by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  So may it be!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QANH8MWuyaE
