HE KNEW MY BIRTH DAY AND MY BIRTH-AGAIN DAY!
This Scripture portioned was not planned by me for my birthday today, but how appropriately planned by Him! So encouraging…
(Today’s fasting and prayer Scripture— Matthew 28:16-20—- I am to go in the authority of Jesus to make disciples, teaching them to obey Jesus. This will be my prayer focus that I seek within the hour of 6am, 12pm and 6pm)
HE KNEW MY BIRTH DAY AND MY BIRTH-AGAIN DAY!
The LORD records as he registers the peoples, “This one was born there.” —Psalm 87:6
Our Lord knows all who are born, when they are born and where they are born and for what purposes they are born. “From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands” (Acts 17:26). Not only does he know each individual’s time in history when they will live and the place where they will live, but He knows this of the nations as well. It is our Lord who knows when individuals and nations are born, where they will be located and the purposes for which they exist.
Yes, God knew the time of your birth. He actually planned it! He knew where you would be born. He actually planned that as well. And He knows the purposes for your existence… do you? There are many things written down in God’s Word which instruct us as to why we exist. First and foremost we are to ‘“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.” And second, we are to “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Jesus said that “All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:37-40). Those are the two Great Commands that really sum up our motivation for living for Jesus… or at least they should be.
Then there is the Great Commission. We are told to “go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20). “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8). We are to bear witness about Jesus and when people call on His Name we are to disciple them so they too in turn will disciple others who call on Jesus to be saved (Romans 10:13). Dear Father I thank You for the life You have given me through the parents You brought me into this world through. I am so grateful that You caused me to be born-again into Your family, the family of God. I could not cause either of these to take place, but I am so grateful that You brought me to the point of calling on Jesus and be born a second time into Your Kingdom with all who have called on Jesus. Now, may I be faithful to Your call on my life to be a witness and disciple-maker out of the motivation of loving You and loving people. May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.
