A LIFE YIELDED TO OUR LORD IS A LIFE SEEKING TO LIVE RIGHT
A LIFE YIELDED TO OUR LORD IS A LIFE SEEKING TO LIVE RIGHT
Now let the fear of the Lord be on you. Judge carefully, for with the Lord our God there is no injustice or partiality or bribery.” —II Chronicles 19:7
Now here are the problems with worldly judges—
- There is no fear of the Lord in their lives.
- They do not judge carefully.
- They are unjust.
- They are partial.
- They take bribes.
This is not to say every judge is like this, but in a fallen world, a sinful world, there are going to be many that are like the stated points above. But praise God that He always judges perfectly. He is always just. He is not partial and He is not going to be bribed.
Those in places of decision making should have “fear of the Lord” in their lives. Then they would be careful to judge as He desires. They would be just according to His ways. They would be like Him and be partial and they surely would not take bribes if they were like our Lord.
Of course these qualities would be fitting for anyone. Especially these are to be true of those following our Lord Jesus Christ. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Proverbs 1:7). Followers of Jesus are to begin with judging themselves (I Corinthians 11:31) before making judgments on others (Proverbs 31:9; John 7:24). Those who follow Jesus are to be just (Colossians 4:1). Just as God is not partial so His followers are not to be partial either (Galatians 2:6). And they are also not to be bribed (Exodus 23:8).
Dear Father may I pattern my life after the qualities that You desire. May this be so by in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n_aVFVveJNs
