OUR LORD WILL ACCOMPLISH HIS PURPOSES THROUGH HIS WORD

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. —Isaiah 55:10-11

             Rain and snow that come down from heaven, come from His hand and “He brings the clouds to punish people, or to water his earth and show his love” (Job 37:13).  This precipitation does not return to heaven (evaporation) “without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater.”  As I write this it is raining outside and our Lord is accomplishing what He desires with this “nor’easter” along the east coast of the U.S.

             As He accomplishes His will through water, “so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”  As we share God’s Word, be assured that He is working through that Word to accomplish what He desires.  And we know that—

• “These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” —John 20:31
• “Faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.” —Romans 10:17
