WALKING IN HIS LIGHT OR YOUR OWN LIGHT
This is what the Lord says— your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go. —Isaiah 48:17
Who among you fears the Lord and obeys the word of his servant? Let the one who walks in the dark, who has no light, trust in the name of the Lord and rely on their God. But now, all you who light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze. This is what you shall receive from my hand: You will lie down in torment. —Isaiah 50:10-11
It is our Lord who teaches what is best for us and directs us in the way we should go. Are we listening? Do we want His guidance? It is very clear that if we “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Beware— “Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil” (Proverbs 3:5-7).
If we are in the right relationship with our Lord then we will want to be obedient to Him because we love Him (John 14:21). Those in the right relationship with Him will “trust in the name of the Lord and rely on their God.” Who are you relying on? If a person is not in the right relationship with our Lord, then they “light fires and provide yourselves with flaming torches, go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze. This is what you shall receive from my hand: You will lie down in torment.” The end result for those not wanting to walk in our Lord’s light but in their own light will be eternally terrible—
“Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.” —Revelation 20:11-15
Are you living in the Light of our Lord or are you living in your own light which is really darkness? It would be wise to call on the Lord Jesus to save you from your sin and to a relationship with Him and be walking in His Light.
