PROPER PERSPECTIVE OF SELF
PROPER PERSPECTIVE OF SELF
But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.” —I Corinthians 1:27-31
For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. —I Corinthians 2:2

To truly follow Jesus one must humble themselves and acknowledge how God sees them and not as the world sees them. Nobody can boast before God as a follower of Jesus. If we are going to boast let us boast in our Lord!
Who are those that God chooses? According to the verses above He chose the foolish in the world to shame the wise. He chose the weak in the world to shame the strong. He chose what is low, what is despised, things that are not so that He brings to nothing things that are. He does this so that no man would boast in the presence of God.
In turn Jesus becomes to the follower of Jesus wisdom from God— knowledge applied correctly. Jesus becomes to us righteousness— justice has been served on our behalf and righteousness has been credited to our account (II Corinthians 5:21; Romans 4:1-12). Jesus is our sanctification— we are set apart to be with Him forever and for special purpose now. Jesus is our redemption— “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect” (I Peter 1:18-19).
The focus of our message has to be the death and resurrection of Jesus (I Corinthians 15:3-4). It is at the cross that He took the punishment for our sin. It was at the cross that He died for us and then He rose 3 days later and was seen by hundreds (I Corinthians 15:6). Nor is there salvation in any other. Jesus is the only way to be saved from sin, judgment and hell and to a relationship with God through Him, having eternal life! This is a marvel and so let us be faithful to share this “good news” to those in the sphere of our lives. Yes, Dear Father may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
