REPENTANCE

REPENTANCE

Bear fruit in keeping with repentance. —Matthew 3:8

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” —Matthew 4:17

I declared that they should repent and turn to God, performing deeds worthy of their repentance. —Acts 26:20

Repentance— deep sorrow for our sin and a desire to turn from our own ways and follow God’s ways. If that truly has happened then there will be fruit in our lives that reveal we are now children of God. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23).   “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and the one who is wise saves lives” (Proverbs 11:30).   “What good is it, my brothers, if someone claims to have faith, but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?” (James 2:14).

So repentance will be seen in a person’s life— What is there attitude toward sin? Have they turned from their old way of life? Are they following the Lord God Almighty? Are they listening to Him regularly through His Word? Are they speaking to Him regularly in prayer? Are they witnessing of Him to others? Are they seeking to make disciples? Are they consistently exhibiting the fruit of the Spirit? How are they serving our Lord and His people? These are some indicators that a person has truly repented. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ODe4sGCKxc
