FIRST EARTH’S JUDGMENT & THE COMING SECOND EARTH’S JUDGMENT
“Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you, and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark; it is for every beast of the earth. I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth.” And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth.” —Genesis 9:9-17
The covenant God made after the flood was not just with man, but with every creature kind that came out of the ark. The rainbow is the sign of the covenant that God would never flood the whole earth again to destroy it or those who live on it. The rainbow is the constant evidence of this covenant and that there was a world-wide flood in the historic past of this planet.
It is interesting that God says “When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh.” That same rainbow that we see God sees and remembers the covenant He made with people and “every beast of the earth.” We are told He will never again flood the whole earth to destroy it. This shows that the flood was world-wide. Again, the rainbow is a sign of the covenant that God will not do this again. But… this does not avert the coming judgment that is coming to this earth.
The next judgment on this earth will not be by flood. God has promised this, but His Word is clear that the next world-wide judgment will be one of fire—
Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the Day of Judgment and destruction of the ungodly. —II Peter 3:3-7
Revisionist historians can whitewash the past, but it does not change it. Nor can their denial of future judgment change what is coming. There is a deliberate forgetfulness of these things. Truth remains Truth regardless of man’s attitude toward it. Want evidence God exists? One way God has clearly given you evidence is the rainbow covenant. Creation itself declares His presence without words (Psalm 19:1-6). Then the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Jesus directly communicated the Truth (John 18:37). God also has given us His Word in written form—the Bible— which is so easily accessible for most people on this planet. Man is without excuse for not knowing God’s existence (Romans 1:18). Dear Father please speak to those reading this who have never trusted Jesus. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
