HE IS LIFE AND LIGHT

For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light. —Psalm 36:9

 In Him was life, and that life was the light of men.  The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. —John 1:4-5

            We have been transferred from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light (Colossians 1:12-13).  Paul’s commission from our Lord Jesus was “to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me” (Acts 26:18).  Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life” (John 8:12).

            All life and light comes from God.  He is the fountain of all life.  He is also the fountain of eternal life and when we know Him we are no longer in darkness but in His light— “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (II Corinthians 5:17).  Now that we are in His light we see light.  Now that we are in Truth we see truth.  Things that we never considered before we knew Jesus we now consider and are amazed. 

            Here are some questions that unsaved people ask:  

His Word is light and reveals answers to these questions (Psalm 43:3; 119:105, 130; II Peter 1:19).  When we are in the light of His Word we will not walk in darkness.  His light reveals to us Who He is, where we came from, about heaven, hell, where I am going, about death, what is coming after death and my purpose for living.  Praise God we are not left in the dark, but are in the light.  Rejoice and may we tell others about the Light of the World that they too can escape the darkness and walk in the Light.  May it be so!
