RETURN TO YOUR FIRST LOVE!

Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place. —Revelation 2:4-5

Have you forsaken the love you had for Jesus when you first came to Him? Remember how you loved to spend time with Jesus— listening to Him, talking with Him and then out of your love for Him you served Him. Do you remember? What has happened? Have you taken your relationship with Him for granted? Have you been distracted by something or someone else? Have you become lazy or indifferent? Remember and then repent. Turn from whatever or whoever it is that has caused you to forsake your first love and then return to Him. Listen to Him, talk with Him and out of a loving relationship with Him serve Him. Loving service bears evidence that a person truly loves Him. As someone has said, “Love is a verb.” Godly love acts (I Corinthians 13). The consequence of not taking this action is that your light, your witness will not be affective. It will not exist. The light will be gone. There needs to be a remembrance of the first love relationship with Jesus. Then there needs to be repentance— a turning from whatever or whoever has distracted me or you away for our first love and then a turning back to our first love— Jesus. Indeed, if this happens then it will be evidenced in loving service to our Lord.

Dear Father, may I stick close to my Lord Jesus— Listening to Him, speaking with Him often and lovingly serving Him. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus.
