SEXUAL SIN

SEXUAL SIN

For the lips of the adulterous woman drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil. —Proverbs 5:3

Pornography in the United States alone brings in 10 billion dollars a year! Why would women and men display themselves like this? Well we are told that “the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs” (I Timothy 6:19). “The financial cost to business productivity in the U.S. alone is estimated at $16.9 Billion annually.” More money is lost each year through the loss of business productivity than is gained through the selling of pornography!

How does online pornography affect Americans? “About 200,000 Americans are classified as “porn addicts.” 40 million American people regularly visit porn sites. 35% of all internet downloads are related to pornography. 34% of internet users have experienced unwanted exposure to pornographic content through ads, pop up ads, misdirected links or emails. One-third of porn viewers are women.” This is a real problem and the ramifications are long term and the affects long lasting.

How does pornography affect teens? “It increases the odds of teenage pregnancy. It hinders sexual development. It raises the risk of depression. It creates distorted expectations which hinder healthy sexual development.”

How does pornography affect the home? “According to National Coalition for the Protection of Children & Families, 2010, 47% of families in the United States reported that pornography is a problem in their home. Pornography use increases the marital infidelity rate by more than 300%. 40 percent of people identified as “sex addicts” lose their spouses, 58 percent suffer considerable financial losses, and about 33% lose their jobs. 68% of divorce cases involve one party meeting a new paramour over the internet while 56% involve one party having an “obsessive interest” in pornographic websites.” The home has enough daily difficulties and pornography increases conflict immensely.

The Proverb above mentions that the sexually illicit person appears very appealing, very desirous. But the end result is “bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword” (Proverbs 5:4). Destruction follows illicit sexual activity. Oh yes, it may be pleasurable for a season, but “the fleeting pleasures of sin” will only leave sorrow and destruction. This is a scheme of Satan. https://www.webroot.com/us/en/resources/tips-articles/internet-pornography-by-the-numbers

There is much that is pleasurable that is sinful and the pleasures of sin are momentary. It is a snare of Satan to bring destruction and death. Oh, be wise and keep away from the people and activities that will sexually capture you into sexual sin.

Dear Father, please give me the wisdom to not be tempted into sexual sin. Oh, that I would stick close to You and be on guard at all times. May this be so in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus. May it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QsYyuK1w3q0
