“Listen, O Israel! The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. —Deuteronomy 6:4-9
Jesus replied, “‘you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.” —Matthew 22:37-40
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bbKRBTggo4 This was the first song that I learned when I first trusted the Lord Jesus. Then when Elaine and I were married we had a version of this song played. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kv0FyoW5gRk
We are to love God above all… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3c_ThPdGROQ Not only are we to have Him as highest priority, but the 2nd command is like the first— we are to love people. So today, do I love God? Do I love people? May I do so and be an example to the next generation of how to love God and people. Also, may I be teaching the next generation to love God as well. Oh, how we desperately need to be doing this! Our nation and world is in desperate need of God’s love. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUy3yaSd9b0
Dear Father, may I truly love You and may I also be loving people. Please help my life to bear witness to Your love in the authority of Jesus and by the Holy Spirit’s power.
