OVERCOMERS!

But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world. Those people belong to this world, so they speak from the world’s viewpoint, and the world listens to them. But we belong to God, and those who know God listen to us. If they do not belong to God, they do not listen to us. That is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the spirit of deception. —I John 4:4-6

Those who do not belong to God will not listen to His Word and those who know God will listen to His Word. This “is how we know if someone has the Spirit of truth or the spirit of deception.” Satan is behind the deception as he “deceives the whole world” (Revelation 12:9).

Praise God that you belong to Him for you “were bought at a price” (I Corinthians 6:20; 7:23). That price was “the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect” (I Peter 1:19). You are His prized possession! (James 1:18; Deuteronomy 7:6; 14:2; 26:18).

“Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well. This is how we know that we love the children of God: by loving God and carrying out his commands. In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God” (I John 5:1-5).

We are overcomers of the world by faith and this is seen by loving God and keeping His Word. Only those who truly believe “that Jesus is the Son of God” are world overcomers. So let us speak from God’s viewpoint in a world that will speak of its own viewpoint so that others may come to faith in Jesus as well and join the ranks of world overcomers!

Dear Father, may it be so today as we seek to bear witness to the King of kings and Lord of lords— the precious Lamb slain and risen— our Lord Jesus!
