THEY DO NOT KNOW US

See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him. —I John 3:1

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12). Satan “has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God” (II Corinthians 4:4) and unbelievers need to “come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will” (II Timothy 2:26).

People who do not know Jesus cannot understand those of us who do. We need to bring the gospel to them and pray— “For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ” (II Corinthians 4:5-6). Oh that He would make His light to shine in many around us as we share the good news with them!

Dear Father, just as you brought us to Jesus; surely there are those around us that You are drawing as well. Please help us to be sensitive and boldly share the good news of Your Son with the people in our sphere of movement. May it be so in the power of the Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus!
