BE FAITHFUL UNTO DEATH

And I will appoint my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth.” They are “the two olive trees” and the two lampstands, and “they stand before the Lord of the earth.” If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die. They have power to shut up the heavens so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want. —Revelation 11:3-6

Hollywood is coming out with yet another movie that is supposedly based on the Bible. If Exodus is anything like Hollywood’s production of Noah, then as many things the world produces it will have some truth in it with much error. Worldly productions always have to sensationalize beyond the truth of God’s Word and give false impressions to people who view them.

The verses above are not sensationalized. These things are really going to happen in the future. This is real life. These two witness (Elijah & Moses?) will be given supernatural abilities for 3 ½ months. During that period nobody will be able to do any harm to them and if someone tries to harm them they will die immediately.

These two witnesses will be bearing testimony and “when they have finished their testimony, the beast that comes up from the Abyss will attack them, and overpower and kill them. Their bodies will lie in the public square of the great city—which is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt—where also their Lord was crucified. For three and a half days some from every people, tribe, language and nation will gaze on their bodies and refuse them burial. The inhabitants of the earth will gloat over them and will celebrate by sending each other gifts, because these two prophets had tormented those who live on the earth. But after the three and a half days the breath of life from God entered them, and they stood on their feet, and terror struck those who saw them. Then they heard a loud voice from heaven saying to them, “Come up here.” And they went up to heaven in a cloud, while their enemies looked on. At that very hour there was a severe earthquake and a tenth of the city collapsed. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven” (Revelation 11:7-13).

The two witnesses are on the Victor’s side. The world will think that their death was a victory, but it was not. The witnesses will come to life again and will be taken to heaven. What it the worst man can do to those who bear testimony to the Lord Jesus? Kill us and send us to heaven. Well, that is not so bad, is it? May we be faithful witnesses even if it means those of this world killing us. May we be faithful to Jesus even unto death— however it comes!

Dear Father, thank You for the hope of heaven through the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you that death does not have any power over us because of the salvation we have through Him. Thank You that man cannot do anything to us except kill us and send us to heaven. Oh, that we would faithful until we draw our last breath. May it be so…
