JESUS— OUR SIN OFFERING!
If he brings a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, he shall bring a female without blemish and lay his hand on the head of the sin offering and kill it for a sin offering in the place where they kill the burnt offering. —Leviticus 4:32-33
The seriousness of our sin can be seen in the sin offering. The one who had sinned was to bring a lamb without blemish. Then they were to place their hand on the head of the sin offering. This was identifying with the lamb taking their sin upon itself. Now this lamb had no choice in the matter, but it would be a sin offering for the offender. The offender was to kill the lamb being offered.
The seriousness of our sin can be seen in another sin offering. The one who sinned caused the Lamb of God (John 1:29), the spotless and blameless Lamb of God to be our sin offering (I Corinthians 5:7; II Corinthians 5:21; Hebrews 2:17; 9:12, 28; 10:10, 12; I Peter 3:18). He took our sins upon Himself, but He had a choice. Jesus willingly went to the cross to bear the judgment for our sin so we could be forgiven (Revelation 1:5). The offenders killed the Lamb of God (Acts 3:15; I Corinthians 15:3). But to those who reject God’s only way of salvation, Jesus, will be doomed in Hell forever! Heed the warning if you have not trusted Jesus (John 3:18, 36; Revelation 20:15).
Dear Father who am I that I get to know You? Why did you extend Your grace to me? I do not fully understand all this, but I surely accept this from You and I am so grateful. How fortunate to know what You have done for me so I could know You, live for You now and be with You forever in heaven. May I faithfully run the race You have marked out for me while keeping my eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith.
