Sexual Sin’s Unbridled Destruction

SEXUAL SIN’S UNBRIDLED DESTRUCTION

One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful, and David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, “She is Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite.” Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her. (Now she was purifying herself from her monthly uncleanness.) Then she went back home. The woman conceived and sent word to David, saying, “I am pregnant.” —II Samuel 11:2-5

When David saw Bathsheba bathing, he should have walked away.  Instead, he gazed at her beauty and his unchecked thoughts started down the wrong path. He wanted to have sexual relations with her and devised a plan to do so.  And Bathsheba was a married woman— married to one of David’s most committed soldiers.

This is what happens when anyone does not yield to the Holy Spirit’s fruit of “self-control” (Galatians 5:23).  Unchecked temptation in the mind leads to sinful actions.  This is what happened to David.  This is why pornography takes in between 15-97 billion dollars each year on a global scale.  I read where just over $3000 is spent on porn every second.  This fuels the sex trafficking atrocity of an estimated 200,000 youth under 18 years of age being trafficked right here in the United States every year.  85% of those trafficked are U.S. citizens.  This is an uncontrolled addiction that our increasing lawless government helps fuel.

When Bathsheba told David that she was pregnant, David had to further plan to cover up his illicit act.  He had Bathsheba’s husband set in the heat of the battle so he would be killed.  Actually, David is the one who killed him and our Lord confronted David through Nathan the prophet.  As a result of David’s actions, the child would die and there would be conflict in the years to come in David’s household.

There are consequences to unbridled, sexual lusts and our nation is experiencing those consequences now.  Our Lord does give consequences when lines are crossed.  With the abortion that takes place in our nation, the sex trafficking that takes place, the lawlessness taking place in our society and in government… we have crossed lines and our Lord will “let us go” our own way and suffer the consequences for our choices (Romans 1:18-32). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=On-whMoulOM

The only hope our nation has, as well as any other nation, is if it repents and follows the Lord.  I doubt if that is going to happen as we read God’s Word.  Things will get worse before Jesus comes, yet many will call on His Name to be saved.  So, brother and sister, fellow followers of Jesus, let us be sharing the good news of Jesus with those around us.  Yes, Dear Father, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  All for Your honor and glory.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYZw0dfLmLk
