JESUS’ COMING WILL BE UNEXPECTED!
Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man. They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot—they were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building, but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all— so will it be on the day when the Son of Man is revealed. —Luke 17:26-30
The coming of Jesus will be unexpected by those who do not follow Jesus. Those who do not believe in Jesus or have called on His name will not be ready for His return. They will be living their lives as usual. They will be—
- Eating
- Drinking
- Marrying
- Being given in marriage
- Buying
- Selling
- Planting
- Building
Yes, for those not living for Jesus, they will not be ready for His return. Life for them will be going on as it always has for them— focusing on their physical, temporal lives and not considering their spiritual, eternal condition— whether they will spend forever in hell or forever in heaven. And that will all be determined by having a relationship with Jesus or not.
