And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare. — Jeremiah 29:7

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. —I Timothy 2:1-2

God, through Jeremiah, told the people to pray for the city where they are sent as exiles because the welfare of that city will determine the welfare of themselves. So it is with us today. We are to pray for those who “are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.” Those ruling will have a great impact on our nation and surely on those who follow Jesus Christ. So it is in any nation. So pray for the nation we live in and for the leaders of that nation.

Where will our help come from?

Dear Father, may You guide those who lead this nation to do what is right for the people of this nation. May it be so that we could live peaceful and quiet lives, being godly with dignity. So be it in the Name of Jesus and by Your Holy Spirit’s power.

You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that! —II Timothy 3:1-5

But if you stop your sinning and begin to obey the Lord your God, he will change his mind about this disaster that he has announced against you. —Jeremiah 26:13

But did King Hezekiah and the people kill him for saying this? No, they turned from their sins and worshiped the Lord. They begged him for mercy. Then the Lord changed his mind about the terrible disaster he had pronounced against them. So we are about to do ourselves great harm.” —Jeremiah 26:19

The Lord God Almighty is such a gracious God. When people are being wicked and doing wicked things if only they turn from their wickedness, beg Him for mercy and then He may change His mind about the terrible disaster He is bringing. It happened in Hezekiah’s time when Micah had prophesied coming disaster and it would have happened in Jeremiah’s time if the people would have repented. Yes, our Lord God Almighty is great in grace and mercy and when people repent of their wickedness then He is willing to relent from the disaster He is planning to bring.

Where is the U.S. in His plan? Are we on the brink of disaster, are we already reaping the natural consequences of our national disobedience? I would say we are. There is so much corruption out in the open and “When a crime is not punished quickly, people feel it is safe to do wrong” (Ecclesiastes 8:11). Government corruption will spread— “If a ruler listens to lies, all his officials become wicked” (Proverbs 29:12). You think God is pleased with what is happening with our government right now? I think not!

Fellow followers of Jesus let us shine in this dark world, in this dark nation. May we be salt and light regardless of who is in office. Our stand is no different— we stand for Jesus and His values. “For the time has come for judgment, and it must begin with God’s household. And if judgment begins with us, what terrible fate awaits those who have never obeyed God’s Good News?” (I Peter 4:17). Yes, let us live in such a way that we hear Him say, “Well done good and faithful servant.” May it be so!

Dear Father, may I shine for Jesus and be salt in our nation. Oh, that I would be obedient to You above all things and above all people. Help me to live life in accordance to Your desires in the authority of Jesus and by the power of Your Holy Spirit.

A servant of the Lord must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone, be able to teach, and be patient with difficult people. Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth. Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants. —II Timothy 2:24-26

Are you a servant of the Lord Jesus Christ? Then you must not quarrel but be kind to everyone. You are to be a teacher and be patient with difficult people. You are to gently instruct those who oppose the truth. This is the part we are to take as servants of the Lord Jesus Christ. Then “perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth. Then they will come to their senses and escape from the devil’s trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants.”

Those who do not know Jesus are in the devil’s trap and are not thinking correctly. Their minds are not sound. You can have the most intelligent person on the planet, but they are not thinking correctly if they do not know Jesus. They will not have the proper application of the knowledge they have and surely will not be praising God for what He has given them. No, those who do not know Jesus are being held captive by Satan to do his will, to do whatever he wants them to do. The only escape they have is to hear the Word of God and trust the Lord Jesus Christ. As servants of the Lord Jesus Christ we are to bring the Word of God to them. May we be faithful in this! Someone was faithful to do this for us. We heard the Word of God from someone and escaped!

Dear Father, may I teach and instruct others who do not know Jesus that You might change their hearts. May I do my part and trust You to change people. May this be so in the authority of Jesus and by Your Holy Spirit’s power.

Oh, that I had in the desert a lodging place for travelers… —Jeremiah 9:2

How many times have we heard people say they just want to get away to a secluded place… alone? Oh, to be on a paradise island and just listen to the waves without any worries or concerns. Is that what you are feeling?

Jeremiah wanted to get away from it all as well. He desired “in the desert a lodging place for travelers” to get away from what he was going through. There are times when we feel like just getting away from the normal routine of life, especially when things are tough.

Fellow follower of Jesus, we do have an eternal get away, the perfect place. It is where Jesus is now and we will be there with Him soon. Heaven is our home and what a joy it will be! Heaven with Jesus will be a far greater paradise than we will ever know on earth or imagine in our minds. Keep looking to the finish line. It is not that far off.

Dear Father, I do thank You for my perfect home in Heaven with Jesus. Oh to be there with Him now! But, please help me to finish the work You have for me on earth and to become more like Jesus. May it be so!

I, the Lord, define the ocean’s sandy shoreline as an everlasting boundary that the waters cannot cross. The waves may toss and roar, but they can never pass the boundaries I set. —Jeremiah 5:22

He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things (Colossians 1:15-16). His very creation worships Him. Nothing will happen without Him, absolutely nothing!

Political pundits preach preposterous prophecies purporting picklish positions— “Climate Change” being one of them. Which in 1970’s “Climate Change” was called “The Coming Ice Age” and today it is called “Global Warming.” But, Climate Change is the popular term since it covers all the bases and man is open to determine any weather to be the cause of a global “Climate Change.”

Personally, I will trust the Word of God which says that “As long as the earth endures, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will never cease” (Genesis 8:22). It is the Lord who defines the ocean’s boundaries, climate and what happens in all of Creation. Man is not going to change what God determines just by speaking words or by anything else! Creation reveals the glory of God (Psalm 19:1-6) and man suppresses this truth by his wickedness (Romans 1:18-20). Fellow follower of Jesus let us rejoice in Him who is the Creator, Sustainer and Director of all things in His Creation!

Dear Father, Your Creation is a marvel which reflects Your awesomeness. Oh, I thank You that I can trust You fully for Your Creation and what You are doing in it. I am so grateful I do not have to cringe at man’s fantastically created crisis promoted just by speaking words. No, I will trust You, Your wisdom and Your plan. This is so in the authority of Jesus!

“Warn the surrounding nations and announce this to Jerusalem: The enemy is coming from a distant land, raising a battle cry against the towns of Judah. They surround Jerusalem like watchmen around a field, for my people have rebelled against me,” says the Lord. “Your own actions have brought this upon you. This punishment is bitter, piercing you to the heart!” —Jeremiah 4:16-18

Ungodly actions have consequences. People can live in a fantasy land where they think their wickedness is not being noticed, but it is fully understood by the Lord God Almighty. The actions of a wicked people will cross His line one day and He will act. Unlike men who draw lines in the sand that are crossed and no action is taken— He will take action! When He does there will be no escape.

Let there be no mistake. Judah would be punished by the Lord for its rebellion against Him as mentioned in the context above. But all people who rebel against the Lord will face punishment one day if they do not repent and turn to Him. This is not just a temporal physical judgment I am talking about though. No, it is an eternal punishment away from the Lord forever “into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his demons” (Matthew 25:41). We are told that the wicked “will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous will go into eternal life” (Matthew 25:46). There is no way a person will be able to escape that coming judgment if they do not turn to the Lord. We must warn them and share the good news of Jesus with them. May we do so.

Dear Father, please help me to be about Your business until Jesus comes or until death ushers me in to His presence. Oh, that I would think, speak and act according to Your desires, not fearing man, but seeking to serve You above all. May it be so in the power and authority of Jesus!

Those who taught my word ignored me. —Jeremiah 2:8

“For my people have done two evil things: They have abandoned me— the fountain of living water. And they have dug for themselves cracked cisterns that can hold no water at all! —Jeremiah 2:13

Here are teachers without application of the Word themselves. These are leaders without submission to the Lord themselves. They are guides pointing people to God without going to Him themselves. They are empty shells looking good on the outside but dry on the inside. They are hypocrites in the truest sense.

Do we thirst after the One whose Words we teach? —“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, my God” (Psalm 42:1). Are we longing to spend time with Jesus, longing to be with Jesus? Does our heart ache to see the One who loves us so much that He made it possible for us to be with Him in glory one day?

Let us hear from the Lord God Almighty and then teach His Word (Isaiah 50:4). What does He want to teach us and then trust Him to teach that to others through us by His Spirit? “Get up and prepare for action. Go out and tell them everything I tell you to say. Do not be afraid of them, or I will make you look foolish in front of them” (Jeremiah 1:17). Yeh, let us be obedient to our Lord God Almighty!

Dear Father, may I teach Your Word as You teach me. Oh, that what I teach comes out of my relationship with You. May it be so in the authority of Jesus and through the power of Your Holy Spirit.

So we keep on praying for you, asking our God to enable you to live a life worthy of his call. May he give you the power to accomplish all the good things your faith prompts you to do. Then the name of our Lord Jesus will be honored because of the way you live, and you will be honored along with him. This is all made possible because of the grace of our God and Lord, Jesus Christ. —I Thessalonians 1:11-12

What is your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ prompting you to do? Is He tugging at your heart to go in a particular direction of service for Him? Do it! He is the One who gives you the power to do what He desires and you will only be blessed by being and doing what He desires. Live life for Him! Obedience to Him is honoring Him and you will be honored along with Him!

Dear Father, may I honor my Lord Jesus today. Help me to be and do what You desire today and every day. May it be so in the authority of Jesus and in Your Holy Spirit’s power.

Then they remembered those days of old when Moses led his people out of Egypt. They cried out, “Where is the one who brought Israel through the sea, with Moses as their shepherd? Where is the one who sent his Holy Spirit to be among his people? Where is the one whose power was displayed when Moses lifted up his hand— the one who divided the sea before them, making himself famous forever? Where is the one who led them through the bottom of the sea? They were like fine stallions racing through the desert, never stumbling. As with cattle going down into a peaceful valley, the Spirit of the Lord gave them rest. You led your people, Lord, and gained a magnificent reputation.” —Isaiah 63:11-14

“Look, he is coming with the clouds,” and “every eye will see him, even those who pierced him”; and all peoples on earth “will mourn because of him.” So shall it be! Amen. —Revelation 1:7

Mockers will mock as is the characteristics of mockers. “Most importantly, I want to remind you that in the last days scoffers will come, mocking the truth and following their own desires. They will say, “What happened to the promise that Jesus is coming again? (II Peter 3:3-4). A key element as to why mockers mock is because they want to follow their own desires. “But God shows his anger from heaven against all sinful, wicked people who suppress the truth by their wickedness. They know the truth about God because he has made it obvious to them. For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God” (Romans 1:18-20). People can mock. People can make excuses. But people do not have an excuse for not believing. It is by their wickedness that they suppress the truth.

Where is the One who is promised to come back? (Acts 1:11). “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (II Peter 3:9). Oh, He will be coming back, but it is on His timetable, not ours. Matthew 24:14 tells us that “this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14). The time is getting closer! Jesus is coming!

Dear Father, oh, that His coming would be in my life-time. But whether it is or not, I will see Jesus! Oh, glorious day. Even so come Lord Jesus!

“No longer will you need the sun to shine by day, nor the moon to give its light by night, for the Lord your God will be your everlasting light, and your God will be your glory. Your sun will never set; your moon will not go down. For the Lord will be your everlasting light. —Isaiah 60:19-20

The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. —Revelation 21:23-25 Jesus is not only the Lamb Light of this Word, but He will be our Lamp Light forever! Our home in Heaven awaits us. Are you ready to go home?

Have you paid you light bill for this past month? There will never be a light bill in Heaven! Imagine, God is going to forever be light for us. Not only will there never ever be another light bill, but we will never have another bill again. And… the greatest debt we have ever had has been paid, guaranteeing us of our eternal Light home in Heaven (Ephesians 1:13-14; II Corinthians 5:21). Let us not take our eyes off our home in Heaven and get distracted by this world!

Dear Father, I am so excited about being in Heaven with Jesus and all who love Him. May I encourage those who do not know Jesus to come to Him that they too may be with Him forever! May it be so in the authority of Jesus and by Your Holy Spirit’s power.
