THE ONLY SOURCE OF SALVATION!
THE ONLY SOURCE OF SALVATION!
Although he was a son, he learned obedience through what he suffered. And being made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him, being designated by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek. —Hebrews 5:8-10
The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? —Psalm 27:1
Jesus is the source of my salvation. It is not good works that saves me or anyone (Ephesians 2:8-10). Doing good works does not save anyone, but doing good works according to God’s perspective is the result of salvation. Claiming to be a “good person” does not save anyone as well because in and of themselves there are no “good persons” (Romans 3:10-24). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYZw0dfLmLk
Jesus is Light (Truth) and my salvation. It is only through Jesus that a person can be saved from their sin and to a relationship with God through Him (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). Salvation is not is something I do (good works) but in Who I know— Jesus. Yes, He “is the stronghold of my life.” I need not be afraid of anything or anybody! Nothing at all can separate me from Him (Romans 8:28-38).
While on earth Jesus was obedient to His Father through all the suffering He encountered. His obedience is an example and an exhortation to us to be obedient to Jesus. Not out of a drudgery, but out of love for God and for people (Matthew 22:37-40). Obedience is a key element and not to be overlooked in living for Jesus. Jesus Himself said, “Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them” (John 14:21) and also “Why do you call me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?” (Luke 6:46). Those who claim to be followers of Jesus, but are being willfully disobedient… Wow! That is a big red flag as to whether they truly know Jesus or not. But for those who are consistently being obedient, well, that is an indicator that they truly have a relationship with Him (Matthew 12:48-50).
Again, our works/what we do is not the source of our salvation, but they are the evidence of our salvation— evidence that we have truly believed/have faith in Jesus (James 2:14-26). Again, Jesus said, “Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them” (Matthew 7:20). Is there evidence/fruit/deeds in your own life that indicate you are a follower of Jesus? If you were taken to a court of law because you were a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you? May it be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-816LEY-F9U
Dear Father it is my desire to be a faithful, obedient follower of Jesus because of my love for Him and for people. Oh, that this would be the case. I am so grateful for Who You are and for all You have done for me, are doing for me and will do for me. Like the Apostle Paul I will say that I rather depart and be with Jesus, but as long as you have purpose for me here, may I be faithful to honor you and bring you glory. Oh, that this would be the case in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. Yes, may it be so!
