DESIRE’S PRIORITY

 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them on the day of the wrath of the LORD. In the fire of his jealousy, all the earth shall be consumed; for a full and sudden end he will make of all the inhabitants of the earth. —Zephaniah 1:18

             “What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” (Mark 8:36). Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death. (Proverbs 11:4). So the question is— What am I living for? If I am living for riches alone— money and material wealth— then my focus is wrong. We are all going to give account to our Lord one day and being the wealthiest person on the planet will not keep us from our Lord’s judgment.

            Oh, that our desire would be to want to live for our Lord and be used by Him above all things. This is my desire. Money and material wealth is not high on my priority list. Yes, it is needed to live in this world, but our Lord needs to be top priority. May this be both your desire and mine. May nothing else take the place that only our Lord is to occupy in our lives. Oh, may this be so!

Dear Father this is my desire. It is to live for You and to be used by You for Your glory. In my own strength and my own focus I cannot be what You desire and I know this. May I allow You to work in and through me for Your honor and glory. Oh that I would die to self daily and seek to live for You.   When I fail I will confess, get back up and continue the race You have marked out for me.
