GRATEFULLY SERVE KING JESUS

“Will any one of you who has a servant plowing or keeping sheep say to him when he has come in from the field, ‘Come at once and recline at table’? Will he not rather say to him, ‘Prepare supper for me, and dress properly, and serve me while I eat and drink, and afterward you will eat and drink’? Does he thank the servant because he did what was commanded? So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.’ ” —Luke 17:7-10

            You and I have the privilege to serve Our Lord God Almighty, King of the universe! This is a privilege, a responsibility, a duty and the joy of our hearts. Jesus loved us so much that He laid down His live for us (John 3:16; John chapter 19; I John 3:16; I John 4:19). He was the suffering servant. He came to serve. Think about that, the One who created all things and holds all things together humbled Himself to take on a body, live 33 years on the earth He created among the people He created just to have those He created kill Him on a cross (Philippians chapter 2). But then He rose on the third day (I Corinthians chapter 15). Knowing Who Jesus is and what He has done, the only wise option is to serve Him.

            In serving Him we do not go around shouting it out like what we are doing in service to Him was generated from us.   No, it all comes from Him— “for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose” (Philippians 2:13). If it were not for God’s grace in our lives we could not do a thing that would please Him (I John 3:22). At the end of the day, or at the end of our lives, whatever is of eternal value is recognized by Him and yet we know that it is only by His grace that anything of value is accomplished in and through our lives. It is not of us. Yet we do bear responsibility with the choices we make and we will give account to Him as His followers (II Corinthians 5:10). Let us serve and live for Jesus in such a way that we will hear from Him— “Well done, my good servant!” (Luke 19:17).

Dear Father those are the words that I want to hear from Jesus— “Well done, my good servant.” May I live that way in the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Jesus that I would hear Him speak those words to me. May it be so!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EwoCbcSXlSM
