SPREAD AND GROWTH OF GOD’S WORD
Meanwhile, the word of God continued to spread, and there were many new believers. —Acts 12:24
Sickness is spread by contact with others. We have seen one of the children get sick at the daycare and then before you know it spreads to other and they there are many sick children. It is because they are in close contact with each other.
How does the Word of God spread and impact others? In happens in a similar way as the illustration above. We need to be in close contact with other people and share the Word of God with them that the Word might “germinate” in their lives. In 1st Corinthians 3:7-9 we read that “It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. For we are both God’s workers.”
Are you and I being faithful in the planting and watering process? This is what God has called every follower of Jesus to be about (Acts 1:8). May we be faithful in what He desires!
Dear Father, as I plant and water I expect that You will cause it to grow. I cannot make that happen, but You can. May many come to Jesus as Your Word sprouts in their lives!
