WEALTHY MANIPULATORS
Again I looked and saw all the oppression that was taking place under the sun: I saw the tears of the oppressed— and they have no comforter; power was on the side of their oppressors— and they have no comforter. —Ecclesiastes 4:1
Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income. This too is meaningless. —Ecclesiastes 5:10
One who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth and one who gives gifts to the rich—both come to poverty. —Proverbs 22:16
Many of the wealthy seek to use their wealth to influence people for their own selfish ends. In the Book of James, we read—
“Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court? Are they not the ones who are blaspheming the noble name of him to whom you belong?” —James 2:6-7
There are rich people who use their wealth to oppress others who have nobody that can comfort them. They enslave people for sexual or labor favors. They dictate over whole countries. They seek to manipulate government leaders to take nations down. They lack compassion and empathy. They are self-focused, hard-hearted individuals who think highly of themselves.
There are those who love money so much that they never have enough. They are not content and “the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money” (I Timothy 6:10). They “oppresses the poor to increase his wealth.” In their greed, they love to give gifts to their rich friends. Truly, “Birds of a feather flock together.”
Our own government, to a very large extent, are oppressors of the taxpayer. Government takes, takes, takes and is never satisfied. Our debt has just exceeded $40, 000,000,000,000 and there is no indication of reigning in the uncontrolled spending. There is so much corruption as the rich keep stealing taxpayers’ money and also spend it on their own pet projects instead of the foundation focus of our Constitution. Oppression in the world by the rich comes in many forms but— “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” (Hebrews 4:13). Yes, our Lord will set all things right one day. Nobody, no matter how rich and scheming they are, is getting away with anything.
I thank You, Dear Father, that I am rich in Jesus. Nothing in all this world is more important than knowing and serving Him. May I do so with the rest of my life I have on this planet by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. So may it be! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=On-whMoulOM&list=RDOn-whMoulOM&start_radio=1
