THOSE WHO HARDEN THEIR HEARTS AGAINST THE LORD WILL SUFFER JUDGEMENT
THOSE WHO HARDEN THEIR HEARTS AGAINST THE LORD WILL SUFFER JUDGMENT
For by now I could have put out my hand and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth. But for this purpose I have raised you up, to show you my power, so that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth. You are still exalting yourself against my people and will not let them go. —Exodus 9:15-17
Then whoever feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh hurried his slaves and his livestock into the houses, but whoever did not pay attention to the word of the LORD left his slaves and his livestock in the field. —Exodus 9:20-21
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go in to Pharaoh, for I have hardened his heart and the heart of his servants, that I may show these signs of mine among them, and that you may tell in the hearing of your son and of your grandson how I have dealt harshly with the Egyptians and what signs I have done among them, that you may know that I am the LORD.” —Exodus 10:1-2
Then Pharaoh said to him, “Get away from me; take care never to see my face again, for on the day you see my face you shall die.” Moses said, “As you say! I will not see your face again.” —Exodus 10:28-29
How many times does our Lord have to get someone’s attention before they listen to Him through His spoke’s persons? Unfortunately, there are some whose hearts are simply hard and they want to do what they want to do. It matters not what kind of difficulty comes their way. They just seek to get through it and will not yield to our Lord. Instead, they exalt themselves. Self is what is most important.
Even though Pharaoh hardened his heart, there were those Egyptians who “feared the word of the Lord” and listened to what our Lord God Almighty had to say through Moses. They did what Moses said. These judgment “signs I have done among them, that you may know that I am the LORD,” our Lord said. Remember that! He is Lord, we are not and we are to be His servants. We need to remember who we are before Him and “not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you (Romans 12:3).
There are times when people seem to be at the point of yielding to what our Lord desires, but then, once again, they harden their hearts against Him. The hardening of the heart toward our Lord, if continued, will cause more and more destruction with bad, selfish decisions. Look at what happened to the land of Egypt because of one ruler, one man’s bad choices because of a hardened heart against our Lord.
Destruction today can happen in similar ways, and I would say it is, because of those in authority hardening their hearts against our Lord’s desires and in their selfishness, they seek to fulfill their own desires. That will not end well with them or the land. At some point our Lord lets them go or gives them over to their own desires (Romans 1:24, 26, 28) and they will not see His face. Let us warn people. Yes, Dear Father, help we who know Jesus warn of the judgment to come and may people not harden their hearts against Him, but instead bow the knee before Him. Yes, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son, and my Lord, Jesus. So be it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSAN5ObaRQg&list=RDvSAN5ObaRQg&start_radio=1
