APPOINTMENTS!

You have become guilty by the blood that you have shed, and defiled by the idols that you have made, and you have brought your days near, the appointed time of your years has come. —Ezekiel 22:4

…but me you have forgotten, declares the Lord God. — Ezekiel 22:12

And I sought for a man among them who should build up the wall and stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none. — Ezekiel 22:30
The phone rang and I answered it. Unfortunately I had missed a dental appointment and the voice on the other end of the line told me that I still had to pay for the appointment that I missed. I had gotten busy and completely forgot about that appointment.

There are appointments that we will not miss because it is the Lord God Almighty that will be carrying them out. He will make sure that we are on time for His appointments. In the verses above the “appointed time” of Israel’s years had come. They had forgotten the Lord and there were none who would “build up the wall and stand in the breach” that the Lord would not destroy the nation, but He found none. Therefore, judgment would come on Israel.

There are other appointments mentioned in God’s Word as well. These are appointments that He has made. He has “determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place” (Acts 17:26). God has actually determined or appointed where we would live and when we would live. You did not determine the country that you were born in, God did! Nor did you determine the time frame that you would live in, God did! Not only that, but He has even appointed the time that you will die (Hebrews 9:27). He wants us to find the “way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us…” (Acts 17:27). He actually “commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead” (Acts 17:30-31). That would be Jesus!

Nations have appointments with God and so do individuals. May we be ready for those appointments because we will not miss them. That is why “I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation” (II Corinthians 6:2). If you have not trusted Jesus, then you are not ready for those appointments. Please trust Jesus before your name is called!

Dear Father, Your appointments will come to pass. Oh, may I encourage those around me that do not know you to get ready for the appointment to meet You. May they trust the Lord Jesus, be forgiven of their sin, serve You now and be fit for heaven when their appointment arrives.
