TRUST OUR LORD WHEN EVIL RAISES ITS UGLY HEAD!

The king then ordered Doeg, “You turn and strike down the priests.” So Doeg the Edomite turned and struck them down. That day he killed eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod. He also put to the sword Nob, the town of the priests, with its men and women, its children and infants, and its cattle, donkeys and sheep. But one son of Ahimelek son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled to join David. He told David that Saul had killed the priests of the Lord. Then David said to Abiathar, “That day, when Doeg the Edomite was there, I knew he would be sure to tell Saul. I am responsible for the death of your whole family. Stay with me; don’t be afraid. The man who wants to kill you is trying to kill me too. You will be safe with me.” —I Samuel 22:18-23

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. —John 10:10

You who fear him, trust in the Lord— he is their help and shield. —Psalm 115:11

How sad it is that the motivation of one person can destroy so many lives!  Doeg saw David as he fled for his life.  Doeg then told the king that he had seen David with the priest Ahimelek.  Because of Doeg— Ahimelek the priest, “eighty-five men who wore the linen ephod” and “the town of the priests, with its men and women, its children and infants, and its cattle, donkeys and sheep” were all put to death.  Yes, the communication of an evil motivated person can destroy many lives.

Truly, Satan is like a “thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.”  People need to “come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will” (II Timothy 2:26).  Those not thinking correctly, are entrapped by the devil, are being held captive to do the will of the devil.  This was the issue with Doeg.  Doeg was not thinking rightly, was entrapped by the devil, was being held captive to do the devil’s will.  There are so many today that are likewise imprisoned by the devil, doing his will.  How sad!  How destructive!

But, praise our Lord, He has ‘come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”  So, “You who fear him, trust in the Lord— he is their help and shield.”  Yes, let we who follow our Lord Jesus Christ trust Him.  He will help us.  He will protect us.  He will guide us (Psalm 32:8).  We can be absolutely sure of that.  For that, Dear Father, I am eternally grateful because You say, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you” and “so we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.  What can mere mortals do to me?”  May I live like this by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus.  Yes, may I live fearlessly!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qtvQNzPHn-w&list=RDqtvQNzPHn-w&start_radio=1
