HONOR JESUS!
Now who is there to harm you if you are zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled, but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. For it is better to suffer for doing good, if that should be God’s will, than for doing evil. —I Peter 3:13-17
As a follower of Jesus, I am—
- To be zealous for what is good
- Possibly going to suffer for righteousness’ sake
- Blessed when I suffer for righteousness’ sake
- Not to fear
- Not to be troubled
- To honor Jesus who is holy
- Always to be prepared to make a defense for the hope in me
- Always to be ready to give a reason for the hope in me
- To respond with gentleness
- To respond with respect
- To have a good conscience
- Going to be slandered
- To have good behavior
- Possibly going to suffer for doing good
- Possibly going to suffer according to the will of God
May you and I “throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus” (Hebrews 12:1-2).
