OUR FOCUS
Meanwhile the disciples were urging him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.” So the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work. Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.” —John 4:31-35
To Jesus, what was more important than physical food? Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work. Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, then comes the harvest’? Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields are white for harvest.” The harvest took precedence over having physical food. When was the last time that we did not eat because we were so focused on the harvest and were in the midst of it? Seeing people saved from hell is much more important than having a meal. Have we ever missed a meal because we were so focused on the harvest?
Can I say with Jesus— “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to accomplish his work?” Is that my desire? Is that my focus? Oh, Dear Father, may that be so. Please help me to lift up my eyes “and see that the fields are white for harvest.” Yes, may this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit that resides in me and by the authority of Your Son who sent me. Yes, may this be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEhRucEVzH8
