WISE LEADERSHIP IS NEEDED IN OUR DAY!
WISE LEADERSHIP IS NEEDED IN OUR DAY!
Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?” It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this. And God said to him, “Because you have asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches or the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern what is right, behold, I now do according to your word. Behold, I give you a wise and discerning mind, so that none like you has been before you and none like you shall arise after you. I give you also what you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that no other king shall compare with you, all your days. And if you will walk in my ways, keeping my statutes and my commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.” —I Kings 3:9-14
For he had dominion over all the region west of the Euphrates from Tiphsah to Gaza, over all the kings west of the Euphrates. And he had peace on all sides around him. And Judah and Israel lived in safety, from Dan even to Beersheba, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, all the days of Solomon. —I Kings 4:24-25
And the LORD gave Solomon wisdom, as he promised him. And there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, and the two of them made a treaty. —I Kings 5:12
God gave Solomon “an understanding mind to govern.” That is what Solomon asked for as his top priority—- to “discern between good and evil.” His first priority was not long life, nor was it riches and nor was it “the life of your enemies.” He asked for wisdom to govern the people. Oh, that we had leadership today with this priority of desiring wisdom to govern the people and not be governing just to line their pockets. “Thank You, Father, for those following You in government that desire to govern as you desire. May You be pleased to increase their number!”
God also gave Solomon “riches and honor” and told him that He would lengthen Solomon’s days if He walked in His Word as David did. God is able to do whatever He desires with a person. He can work through one person to make a huge difference. During the reign of Solomon, there was “peace on all sides around him. And Judah and Israel lived in safety, from Dan even to Beersheba, every man under his vine and under his fig tree, all the days of Solomon.” Oh, that we would have someone like that in leadership that could bring about that type of atmosphere!
But we are living in times of unrest because we have leadership that is not wise, they cannot discern between good and evil… or are intentionally calling evil good and good evil. We have leaders that can’t or won’t stand for when life begins in the womb, do not protect our borders, are allowing lawlessness to increase, cannot discern what a woman or man is, are uncaring for the people they govern, are wrecking the economy, are wrecking the health care system, are wrecking the educational system, are wrecking the job market, are wrecking our justice system, are wrecking our voting system… the country is a mess. Surely, we need some wise person or persons that can make a difference.
Dear Father, without You we are doomed as a nation. There is only one way to go for a nation that does not desire to follow You and that is a downward spiral direction. That is where we are headed, but may we as followers of Jesus stick to Your desires by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son Jesus. Yes, may this be so! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yb8WZ2ND4BY&list=RDYb8WZ2ND4BY&start_radio=1
