NEEDED— RELIABLE FOLLOWERS OF JESUS!

NEEDED— RELIABLE FOLLOWERS OF JESUS!

The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law. —Deuteronomy 29:29

There are some things our Lord has chosen not to reveal to us.  That is just the way it is and we are to trust Him for those things He has chosen not to reveal to us.  “But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name“ (John 20:31).  God has given us all we need to believe and follow Him.  He has given—

  • His Son— “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16). “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:9).
  • His Holy Spirit— “When he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment: about sin, because people do not believe in me; about righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer; and about judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned” (John 16:8-11).
  • His Word— “I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world” (John 17:14).
  • His Gifts— “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good” (I Corinthians 12:7-11). “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully” (Romans 12:6-8).
  • His Kingdom— “For he has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the Son he loves, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins” (Colossians 1:13-14).
  • His Mission— “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.  judgment: about go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:18-20).
  • His Church— “And he is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy” (Colossians 1:18).

So, what is needed if He has given us all this?  The answer is those who are “strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus” who will take the things we have heard Jesus “say in the presence of many witnesses, entrusting them to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others” (II Timothy 2:1-2).  So, Dear Father, please guide us “to will and to act in order to fulfill (Your) good purpose.”  May this be so by the power of Your Holy Spirit and in the authority of Your Son.  Yes, so may it be!   https://youtu.be/ghowDhd-GUM?si=LoMf32fTJ_aw9gzL
